Local bank supports Homer 33C mission

A local bank is helping put technology in the hands of Homer School District 33C students.

Countryside Bank recently donated two Kindle Fires to the district.

“At Countryside Bank, we are committed to donating our time and resources to area organizations, schools and not-for-profits,” said Barbara Iovinelli, branch manager at the bank’s Homer Glen location.

“When we learned there was a need for the Kindle Fires, we jumped at the opportunity to provide them,” she added.

Iovinelli presented the Kindles to Superintendent Kara Coglianese and the Board of Education during its July 26 meeting.

“We are delighted to receive these learning tools and grateful to Countryside Bank for supporting our students, staff and mission to provide a high quality education to prepare and empower students for success in a dynamic world,” said Coglianese.

Students will be able to use the Kindles to download books and, for the younger students, practice their letters, numbers and spelling through fun, educational games.
