Schilling teachers take Breakout EDU challenge
Use teamwork, critical thinking skills to solve puzzle

Schilling School teachers are always challenging their students to use teamwork and critical thinking skills to solve problems.

On Feb. 8, the tables were turned when teachers were asked to solve a Breakout EDU challenge during a staff development meeting.

Schilling School third-grade teacher Tasha Ohotzke delivers a Breakout EDU challenge to teachers during a staff development meeting on Feb. 8.

“A Breakout Edu models an escape room concept where teams of students (in our case staff) work together to solve curriculum related clues to gain the combination to various locks,” explained Schilling School Grades 1-4 Principal Candis Gasa.

“Once all of the locks are unlocked, the team is able to unlock the final sealed box to win the challenge,” she added.

The exercise, which was conducted before school  was led by third-grade teacher Tasha Ohotzke.

Teachers were victorious, “breaking out” with time to spare.

Teachers see if their teamwork was successful as they unlock a sealed box during a Breakout EDU challenge on Feb. 8.
