“GOP Leaders Should Welcome Trump Move to End Congress’s Obamacare Bailout”

Yesterday, Phil Kerpen at American Commitment urged GOP leaders to welcome the President’s “move to end Congress’s Obamacare bailout.” If the President reverses the Office of Personnel Management’s (OPM) rule, he could “end an act of interbranch collusion whose sole purpose was to allow Congress to avoid the pain of a law they passed without the political consequences of actually changing that law.”

In President Trump’s first 6 months, CNS News reports that “the number of removal orders for illegal immigrants increased by about 28 percent.” This spike in removal orders is a result of President Trump’s Executive Order. The Executive Order also allowed the Justice Department to hire “54 additional Immigration Judges since President Trump took office, and continues to hire new Immigration Judges each month” and review “internal practices, procedures, and technology in order to identify ways in which it can further enhance Immigration Judges’ productivity without compromising due process.”

With regard to the Nation’s opioid crisis, The Washington Times reports on President Trump’s remarks on the epidemic, noting that the President announced his plan “to make it a national emergency,” deeming it “a serious problem the likes of which we have never had.” The Tennessean reports that President Trump’s decision to declare the opioid crisis a national emergency was met with praise across the state “from the governor and lawmakers to law enforcement and community health groups.”
