Tonia Khouri Files with Three Times the Amount of Signatures Needed
AURORA – Tonia Khouri of Aurora filed her petition signatures for Congress, 11th district in Springfield this morning with approximately 2800 signatures, more than three times the required amount, securing her name on the ballot. Khouri only needed 867 signatures to get her name on the ballot, but Khouri wanted to make sure she received early support from thousands of voters throughout the district.
“I will bring needed change to Washington. Meeting with thousands of residents throughout the district, I heard time and time again that people want change. They want real leadership with political courage to get the big things done. The only way to bring needed change to Washington is to change who’s in Washington.”
“Republican primary voters want to know that the campaign they are supporting is organized and capable of winning,” said Khouri. “Our campaign put together an incredible petition gathering drive, gathering over three times the amount of required signatures. I am grateful for the tremendous help from volunteers and GOP Precinct Committeeman who have been working hard since September. There is no doubt we have the team and the momentum that can win not only in March, but in November, bringing needed change to Washington.”
Aurora Business United Vice President, small business owner and real estate investor, Peter Aguilera was one of Khouri’s earliest supporters who spent countless hours over the past six months campaigning to help gain local support throughout the district. Peter is honored to have done his part to share in the excitement of today’s filing to ensure Khouri’s place on the Republican Primary ballot.
“Bill Foster hasn’t done anything to help spur job growth and create a business friendly climate in Illinois, said Aguilera. “I know Tonia Khouri and her proven leadership fighting for small businesses. Being a small business owner herself, she understands what we are going through when we talk about being overtaxed, over regulated, and overburdened by the federal government. She’s going to Washington to get things done, not just talk about it.
Naperville Township Republican Organization Chairman, Matthew Carlyle offered his congratulations to Tonia Khouri.
“I congratulate Tonia Khouri for gathering approximately 2800 signatures securing her place on March 15, 2016 Republican Primary ballot. The Naperville Township Republican Organization has proudly endorsed Khouri for this important position,” said Carlyle. “I trust that the voters will come to appreciate Khouri’s grassroots approach and common sense ideas that will enhance the quality of life of the citizens of the 11th Congressional District.”
