And that’s despite an almost insurmountable number of theories that nearly crushed my Twitter feed flatter than Michael Moore’s flip-flops. While people who still had hearts and souls proffered prayers and thoughts for those affected, the left trampled their lost loved ones into the dirt. In fact, our liberal compatriots actually took umbrage at our compassion. According to the Big Apple’s fourth or fifth-most respected rag, the Daily News, “God isn’t fixing this.” Liberals actually managed to spend hours debating their own assessment of conservatives’ sincerity with such rage they forgot to offer condolences of their own.
Over at the George Soros-funded hate blog Think Progress, a kid named “Igor Volsky” turned his entire Twitter-verified feed into a rant against the National Rifle Association and the politicians whom it supports. Even seemingly reputable sources like the BBC boiled the massacre down into “just another day in the United States.”
They blamed white people, with a woman named Imani Gandy of an abortionista blog named RH Reality Check asking: “Who wants to bet the shootout..on live tv just made another white person start planning the next mass shooting.” They blamed “teabillies,” a personal favorite of mine. They blamed the NRA. One special little snowflake even claimed “I don’t care how we slice the pie, GUNS kill people,” a sentiment echoed by none other than the Democrats’ likely Presidential nominee Hillary Clinton, who proclaimed “I refuse to accept this as normal. We must take action to stop gun violence now.” The old girl apparently thinks Islamic terrorism is “normal,” and/or that the terrorists were named “gun violence.” And our esteemed president, Barack Obama I of the Gun-Free Paradise of Chicago, managed to blurt out: “(W)e have a pattern now of mass shootings in this country that has no parallel anywhere else in the world.” He mouthed his counterfactual platitude — which would come as a surprise to nearly every resident of France — at a hastily arranged press conference before all the victims’ families had been notified. None of them managed to point out that California, much like Sandy Hook, Fort Hood and (insert nearly any Democrat-run city here), has precisely the sort of draconian anti-Bill of Rights laws that they routinely insist will prevent these sort of incidents from occurring.
Of course, our portside pals also felt the need to focus on language, as if parsing words was the logical next step following such a tragedy. Here’s a tip, kids: The San Bernardino attack was terrorism. But maybe we could hold off on the grammar lessons until at least all the smoke has cleared. The San Bernardino attack was stupid, inexplicable, hateful, venomous, tragic terrorism. Liberals are the only ones who feel the need to repeat that ad nauseam, as if terrorists might somehow be daunted if we didn’t call them “fluffy bunnies.” That logic also explains their belief that disarming law-abiding citizens will somehow protect other law-abiding citizens from non-law-abiding terrorists.
By 10:15 p.m. EST, more than eight hours since the attack on the Inland Regional Center in San Bernardino, I had seen enough blame and spurious leftist allegations to fill a season of MSNBC shows. What I hadn’t seen is any expression of sorrow for the victims and their families. So focused were our left-wing friends on expressing their hatred for people who didn’t commit the San Bernardino atrocity and the guns they may or may not own, they forgot all about the human factor. Humans did it. And they did it to other humans. I’d like to think the rest of us humans might consider that. If it was “white people,” then Beverly Hills would look like Baltimore, The Hamptons would look like Detroit, and Chappaqua would look like Chicago. If it was “guns,” then I’d be dead, since the guns in my safe would have murdered me by now. If it was the NRA, then NRA conventions would feature higher body counts than either Baltimore or Detroit.
And then, confirmation came down that one of the shooters was named Syed Farooq. Without having stopped to say “sorry” to anyone, the leftists, while continuing their stream of invective against guns, gun owners and white people, abruptly stopped talking about “terrorism” and started talking about “mass shootings” again. Spare few ever even acknowledged the existence of the victims. But look on the bright-ish side: At least they didn’t blame so-called “climate change,” for once.
