Coming soon to Homer 33C: new logo and website
Exciting changes are on the horizon for Homer Community Consolidated School District 33C.
The district is launching a new website, complete with new logo, at the end of June. The new and improved website is easy to navigate and responsive, meaning it automatically adjusts to whatever device the reader is using — whether it’s a desktop computer or mobile phone.
“In this age of smartphones and instant communications, it’s important that we have a place where parents and community members can go for accurate and up-to-date information,” said Superintendent Kara Coglianese.
“For many newcomers, a school district’s website is the first place they go for information about their child’s potential school,” she added. “We want their first impression to be a good one. We want them to see within a matter of seconds who we are: a highly progressive grade school district that is preparing students for the rigors of the 21st century. Our new website achieves that through the use of photos, articles and easy-to-find reports, such as School Report Cards.”
Work on the new website began last fall when the district formed a committee of parents, community members, teachers and administrators to study various websites and website companies from across the country.
The group was immediately drawn to sites designed by Finalsite, an award-winning software and web design company that specializes in school sites.
“Everyone was impressed with Finalsite’s simplicity of design, organization and mobile site,” said Arlene Siefert, the district’s director of technology.
But before recommending Finalsite to the School Board, the committee researched and interviewed multiple companies that it favored and spoke to school districts about their ease of use and responsiveness to questions.
Finalsite received high marks in every area.
After the School Board approved Finalsite’s proposal at its Oct. 27 meeting, the district’s technology department began building the website with new content and teacher pages.
The site is scheduled to go live June 29.
