Butler School students take Kindness Adventure
Learn about Kenyan culture and why we should all be kindhearted and open-minded
Butler School students just got back from a Kindness Adventure where they learned about the Kenyan culture and why we should all be kindhearted and open-minded.
Students joined their Kindness Adventure guide in the school gymnasium on Monday (Sept. 26) where they took a quick trip to Africa using storytelling, music, interactive videos and magical illusions.
They met school children from Kenya who told them a little bit about their homes, food, clothing and school day. They even helped the Butler students learn a few words in Swahili, such as “Jambo” for “Hi” and “Habari gani” for “How are you.”
Afterward, they were given an opportunity to purchase handcrafted jewelry from Kenya, including beaded wristbands, rock bracelets and carved bone necklaces.

Proceeds not only help cover the cost of the assembly (which is offered to schools for free) but provide income for Kenyan artisans and raise funds to provide clean water in Kenya.
Just last month, the Kindness Adventure team traveled to a rural village outside of Nairobi where it dedicated its first clean water well in Kenya.
