County Executive Larry Walsh Encourages Public to Attend Public Hearings and Provide Comments on
Will Connects 2040
Public Invited to Provide Comment on Draft Plan and Attend Public Hearings
Since early 2015, the Will County Division of Transportation (WC DOT) has been working to update its current Long Range Transportation Plan. Known as Will Connects 2040, the Plan will serve as the County’s roadmap for transportation over the next 25 years, guiding multimodal investments for maintaining and enhancing our transportation network.
“We have developed a plan of action that articulates our priority improvements to county roadways and advocates for strategic investments for our partner agency systems. Over the next 25 years, these investments will help to ensure that Will County remains a great place to live, work and do business,” said Will County Executive Larry Walsh, adding, “building off of previous public open houses, we want to encourage everyone to review the plan, attend a public hearing, and provide their comments.”
The public is invited to review and provide comment on Will Connects 2040, which is available on the project website: www.WillConnnects2040.org and attend a Public Hearing. Similar to the Open House format, the Public Hearings will highlight critical information on display boards and copies of the draft Plan will be available on site for review. The Public Hearings are scheduled for:

The 30-day public comment period began on September 21, 2016 and ends November 2, 2016.
The Plan identifies Will County’s ‘fiscally constrained’ investment priorities for county roadways and articulates transportation priorities for our partner agency systems: IDOT, Tollway, RTA, Metra, Pace, and municipalities. It also includes a transportation project list representing all Will County transportation needs, which require major capital expenditures, are important for County mobility and connectivity, and typically support capacity, preservation, or safety.

Launched in early 2015, the Long Range Transportation Plan known as “Will Connects 2040” considers all forms of transportation, including roads, transit (bus and commuter rail), bicycle and pedestrian, aviation, intermodal networks, and freight (truck, rail, and waterborne). The Will Connects 2040 planning process provides an opportunity for the County to evaluate the current transportation system and future transportation needs and challenges. The Will Connects 2040 Plan identifies priority improvements for county roadways and for partner agency systems.
