Raises $13,000 for technology, other educational needs

The Mustang Color Run gets underway Sunday, Oct. 23 with a toss of powder by all 700 participants.
A rainbow of color filled the air on Sunday, Oct. 23 as close to 700 students, parents and community members participated in the Mustang Color Run at Dellwood Park.

5K runners/walkers make their way through a cloud of color Sunday, Oct. 23 at the Mustang Color Run.

“It was wonderful to see so many of our kids smiling and having a fun, messy morning,” said Robyn Bates, who helped coordinate the event.

Organized by the Future Ready Student Foundation, the Mustang Color Run will benefit all Homer School District 33C students in the form of classroom supplies, assemblies, technology needs and school improvements.

A group of Mustang Color Run participants wait for the 5K fundraiser to start on Sunday, Oct. 23.

Sponsors included Turning Pointe Dance Company, Kenwood Liquors, Floss Family Dental, Adolf Funeral Home and Cremation Services, Fash Wealth Advisors, Megent Financial, Lockport Homer Youth Theater, Budreck Truck Lines, Vintage Meet Modern, Road ID, Tacos Giselle, Tiny Bubbles Photography and TheraCORE Physical Therapy.

“The Mustang Color Run is an amazing way to have some fun and raise some money to enhance our students’ education,” said Foundation member Angela Adolf.

The 5K began and ended near Challenge Fitness Center in Lockport’s Dellwood Park.

The Foundation will work with administrators, teachers and staff to determine how to spend the $13,000.
