Author challenges students to change the world with kind words
Encourages them to stand up for others
Schilling School students have a superpower that they didn’t know about — using kind words and actions to change the world.
“You have the powers to make a difference in this world,” Amy Logan, author of the children’s book A Girl With A Cape, told students during an assembly on Feb. 23.
“The world needs more people like you,” she added. “Be a superhero and let others look up to you.”
In her book A Girl With a Cape, Logan tells the story of a little girl who uses kind words and actions to create a positive environment wherever she goes.
She read the story to students on Feb. 23 and then encouraged them to be kind to others by holding the door open for them, inviting a classmate to play during recess or leaving a note with kind words in a random place.
“How do we change the word,” she asked students. “One act of random kindness at a time.”
