Union representative Jane Fojtik reported teachers are enjoying time with their families and
that she had the privilege of seeing 18 Homer 33C Show Choir students perform at Carnegie
Hall this summer at the
Middle School Honors Performance Series. It’s an experience
she will never forget

Christine Graefen, Support Programs Coordinator, presented an overview of the District’s
English Learner Program, including how students are identified and screened for the program.
Since 2010-2011, the District has seen a 514 percent increase in EL students. Some of the
most common language spoken are Polish, Arabic, Lithuanian and Spanish. Enrollment is
expected to rise again this fall from 247 students to 260. Bilingual programs are currently
offered at Schilling and Goodings Grove schools

Homer Junior High School Principal Troy Mitchell and Technology Director Arlene Siefert
reported a committee of secretaries, District office staff and teachers has been researching
various Student Information Systems (SIS) for the past two years. They recommend the Board
award a contract to PowerSchool to collect and store student information, including master
schedules, teacher gradebooks and reports. The Board accepted the recommendation and
awarded the contract to PowerSchool. The system will be in place for the 2018-2019 school
year

The Board approved a resolution authorizing the sale of a John Deere lawn tractor
●
The Board approved the following employees for participation in the District’s one-time IMRF
retirement incentive and to approve separation agreements:

The Board approved Jason Skube as the Dean at Hadley Middle School effective August 14,
2017
●
The Board approved contracts and 4.2 percent increases for administrators, including the
Superintendent
The Next Regular School Board Meeting is July 25, 2017 at 7:00 p.m.
A Special Board Meeting for Board Training will be held July 20, 2017 at 5:30 p.m.
