Schilling School kindergartners ready for first day of school
Drop off school supplies; see classrooms for first time
Schilling School kindergartners are ready to build a better world.
On Aug. 15, they picked up their construction hats and dropped off their school supplies in anticipation of the first day of school.
“Welcome. Are you in kindergarten?” Schilling School Principal Candis Gasa asked a youngster as he entered the school for the first time with his parents.
“That makes you one of my builders,” she told him after receiving a shy, affirmative nod from the five-year-old. “Together, we’re going to build a better world.”
Each student received a plastic construction hat from Gasa and Assistant Principal Nate Baldwin before entering the school to find their classroom and drop off their school supplies.
Each school plans to host a School Supply Drop-Off Day in anticipation of the first day of school on Aug. 23.
Those dates are as follows:
- Goodings Grove, 9-11 a.m. Aug. 16
- Schilling (Grades 1-4), 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Aug. 16
- Butler, 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. Aug. 17
- Young, 12-2 p.m. Aug. 17
The open houses are informal, giving parents and students a chance to walk through the buildings at their own pace and get acquainted with their classrooms.
