Our guest speakers were Bob Feurborn and Dennis Leifheit who are both Cowboy Action shooters. They strive to mimic the dress code that was worn and the guns that were used in the period between 1850 and 1899. They dress in period costumes and shoot single action pistols, lever action rifles, and shotguns. They shoot at Aurora Sportsmen Club on the first Sunday of every month. Cowboy action started in California in 1981and was called SASS for single action shooting society. In 1995 it came to Illinois. In real life back then Constables were few and far between so vigilantes were formed. The Driscolls were a bunch of really bad guys and killed a guy named Campbell who was in charge of the northern Illinois regulars. So the regulars got 120 helpers to go shoot the Driscols who were captured. Half were given blanks, so nobody would know if they shot a bullet that actually killed one of them. more

Chairman’s Remarks
I bet you all know the name, Mike Brown, and you probably know his story. In 2014, Mike Brown who was a 300+ pound local thug was killed in self-defense by a police officer. Practically everyone in the country knows his name and, to many, he is a hero and a martyr….somehow. But, did you know that 126 police officers were killed? Can you name even one of them? Pretty sad how our media and many citizens make priorities of thugs…thugs who are routinely revered…and police officers, who risk their lives daily for them, are forgotten.
The Second Amendment Foundation very recently won a significant court victory against “good reason” requirements for concealed carry. The U.S. Court of Appeals for the District of Columbia issued a permanent injunction against enforcement of such a requirement in Washington, D.C. The ruling declared that, “At the Second Amendment’s core lies the right of responsible citizens to carry firearms for personal self-defense beyond the home, subject to longstanding restrictions…The District’s good-reason law is necessarily a total ban on exercises of that constitutional right for most D.C. residents. That’s enough to sink this law under (the 2008 U.S. Supreme Court’s Heller ruling).” The ruling makes it very clear that the Second Amendment’s core covers carrying for self defense in public. more
