Roofing company joins effort to save Ross School
One-room schoolhouse to get new roof
Homer School District 33C is one step closer to saving Ross School!
On Wednesday, Kevin Filotto from Filotto Roofing delivered a pallet of CertainTeed Landmark Premium Pro shingles to the district.
The donation means Homer 33C is one step closer to saving the historic, one-room schoolhouse that was moved to the entrance of Homer Junior High School/Hadley Middle School 20 years ago!
The school served generations of students from the 1850s to 1956 when Homer 33C was established with the consolidation of six one-room schoolhouses, including Ross.
It’s one of the few remaining one-room schoolhouses in the area.
Three Homer 33C staff members, Phil Ackland, Ed Malley and Bill Kocanda, who have construction experience, have volunteered to install the roof.
Richards Building Supply Company has agreed to donate the plywood, roof felt, ice & water shield and nails needed to complete the roof installations.
If you would like to join the effort to save Ross School, please contact Charla Brautigam at 708-226-7628 or cbrautigam@homerschools.org.
