Batinick Named House GOP Floor Leader
State Representative Mark Batinick (R-Plainfield) was appointed to the position of House Republican Floor Leader today.
The Plainfield Republican will be the minority caucus’ point person during the daily floor debates and discussions in the House of Representatives for the 101st General Assembly.
The Representative is honored to serve the caucus in this role, and hopes to facilitative productive discussions in the new legislative year.
“Good policy is good politics, and we need to get back to that focus,” said Batinick. “When we produce good legislation to support policies, it’s in the best interests of our state and our residents. As Floor Leader I hope to help make this happen.”
Representative Batinick begins his third term serving the 97th Legislative District of Illinois, which includes portions of Oswego, Montgomery, Naperville, Plainfield, Bolingbrook, Joliet and Shorewood. Batinick received his Bachelor of Science in Business Education from the University of Illinois, and is currently a small business owner in Plainfield.
Throughout his tenure in the House of Representatives, Batinick has introduced legislation to provide property tax relief, make higher education more affordable, reform the worker’s compensation laws, advocate for veterans, and find solutions to the state’s broken pension system.
The appointment will take effect immediately and Rep. Batinick will begin his role as Floor Leader when session resumes on January 29th in Springfield.
