Steve Balich Editors Note: This committee is the result of Democrats taking full control of the Will County Board in the last election. Some Republican’s did not vote and this is the consequence. There is no discussion of cost or starting locations. I would bet Homer, Mokena, New Lenox, and Frankfort are on the top of the list Followed by Plainfield and Naperville. The next election may seem far off, but not voting does have a consequence. Remember to vote anti-socialist!

AD HOC Modern Community Solutions Committee
This Ad Hoc committee, in conjunction with the Will County Board Public Health and Safety Committee will utilize existing county agencies to identify barriers to safe and affordable housing for housing insecure families. This committee will benefit from the expertise of staff in these county agencies, and partner with the Will County Land Use Department to create innovative housing solutions. These solutions will fit the character of existing neighborhoods while offering affordable housing opportunities that allow families to fully integrate into the surrounding community as seamlessly as possible.
The intent and scope of this committee is to operate as an exploratory program. The most viable solutions will be offered first as a pilot program to gather data on effectiveness. The committee will be data driven at each step of the process. The solutions will be initiated in conjunction with existing landlords and property owners, thus mitigating cost to the county. Any pilot programs that come out of this committee will be focused on areas of Will County that have existing resources, infrastructure, transportation, and job opportunities to enable the families participating to break the cycle of housing insecurity while becoming fully integrated residents in the target community.
Best Regards,
