Since Radical Extremism Can’t Be Defended, Opponents Must Be Silenced
Democrats are going “all in” on the narrative that the extremists who now run their party can’t be called out or criticized for the extremist positions they hold or the inflammatory things they say.
The talking point making the rounds in DNC Media these days is that to criticize the extremists is to “incite violence” against them.
It’s been just four short months since the newly elected Democratic representatives took their seats in the House. It seems like a lot longer than that, especially to House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.), who has ended up trying to hold an increasingly fractured Democrat-led House together.
Almost every other day, Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-N.Y.), Rep. Ilhan Omar (D-Minn.), or Rep. Rashida Tlaib (D-Mich.) says something either incredibly stupid or outrageously radical that ignites a new cycle of media coverage that lasts for days.
Pelosi Has Lost Control
Pelosi was forced to go on CBS’s “60 Minutes” on April 14 to assure everyone that she’s still firmly in control of the House and its agenda.
Except she’s not. It’s becoming increasingly apparent who’s in the driver’s seat—and it’s not Pelosi.
In her interview with “60 Minutes,” Pelosi dismissed Ocasio-Cortez, Omar and Tlaib as “like five people” who just got there in the House. But over the past four months, those “five people” have been setting the agenda for the entire House.
Take the ongoing disaster known as “The Green New Deal.” This first legislative foray by Ocasio-Cortez was a huge honking fiasco. It was so bad that all the Democrats in the Senate ran away from it when it was put to a vote—after all of the top Democrats running for president endorsed it.
So, Democrats are now the party of using climate-change hysteria to push socialism. They made that crystal-clear with the failed launch of the Green New Deal.
Meanwhile, the late third-trimester abortion bill passed in New York state–to thunderous applause–and the infanticide comments by Virginia Gov. Ralph Northam about a similar bill proposed in his state make it clear that the Democratic Party is openly and proudly the party of late-term abortion and proposed infanticide.
And as if that wasn’t enough, on April 11, every Democrat in the House but one voted to allow boys who identify as girls to compete in girls’ sports. That act of lunacy deserves a column in and of itself, which I’ll write later. Suffice to say that it will destroy girls’ sports and you’ll see parents all across this country pulling their daughters out of sporting events that would pit them head-to-head against a ‘girl’ with an unfair advantage.
While the Green New Deal and late-term abortion controversies raged, Rep. Omar kept making anti-Semitic comments, which culminated in this latest news cycle where she dismissed the Sept. 11, 2001, terrorist attacks as ‘some people did something.” At the same time, videos surfaced of her praising terrorist groups such as Hezbollah and Hamas.
Openly Radical
This new breed of extremists doesn’t follow Saul Alinsky’s “Rules for Radicals.”
Former President Barack Obama was a political radical through and through, but he was a smart radical. He knew he had to hide his radicalism to get elected, and downplay it to be re-elected. Socialist community organizer Alinsky counseled the radicals of the 1950s and ’60s to not be in people’s faces about their radicalism: that just frightens all the nice folks out there if you do that. Many extremists of the past heeded Alinsky’s advice, including Hillary Clinton, who made her college thesis at Wellesley College about “the Alinsky Model.”
Obama learned early on in his college days that Alinsky was right; Obama himself saw just how limited the success range was for those who chose openly radical displays.
While Alinsky counseled radicals to disguise their radicalism to achieve and hold power, this new crop of Democrats never read Alinsky, don’t know his rules, and have come into to the public eye disguising nothing.
A New Strategy
This new crop of radicals within the Democratic Party exudes sheer arrogance like nothing this country has ever seen before. They are out-and-proud extremists who think they can simply browbeat and guilt-trip the country into bowing before their anti-American agenda.
Their positions aren’t defensible, so they don’t even try to defend them. Instead, they are going to try to play victim and demand everybody shut up after they say or do something extremist and radical.
Radical far-left Progressives will simply state over and over again—as if it’s a self-evident truth—that they have no legitimate political opposition. Their political opposition is by its very nature illegitimate, because the radical Progressive position is the only legitimate position. If you don’t share their beliefs, you’re an extremist and you need to be silenced. It’s as simple as that. Everybody else in this country is just supposed to shut up and get out of the way, and let them have their way running things.
Which is why they are now trying to make it so nobody can even talk back to them after they make one of these extremist claims. They’ll loudly insist to all who will listen that to talk back to them is to “incite violence” against them.
The real radical extremists are always the ones demanding every other viewpoint be silenced so theirs can win the day unopposed.
It’s un-American to the core and it’s a viewpoint only held by fascists. This is why these people are only going to get so far with their lunacy, before there is massive pushback by the American people, who will never, ever embrace fascism.
