Harris named new chairman of the Will County Young Republicans

Harris succeeds Cornel Darden Jr., who served in the role since the organization was revived back in 2017.
“When it comes to the Will County Young Republicans and time, effort and commitment, no one is more deserving than Brandon,” Darden said in a press release. “We all put in work, and I can tell you he will lead our team in the right direction.”

The Joliet native’s involvement in politics spans nearly two decades, when as a 10-year-old he first began putting campaign signs in frames and working alongside current and past community leaders like former congressman Jerry Weller and current County Recorder of Deeds Laurie McPhillips. Harris’ mother, Melissa Chovan, has also served as vice chairman of the Will County Young Republicans.
“I want to present my G.R.O.W.T.H. plan, and as a young community leader, I feel that by developing within the community and bringing our young people in we can make a real difference,” Harris said in the release.
