Anti-Sexual Harassment Bill Signed into Law
PLAINFIELD—Today, Governor JB Pritzker signed legislation to require hotels and casinos to adopt anti-sexual harassment policies to improve workplace safety for employees. State Representative Mark Batinick (R-Plainfield) was a co-sponsor of the initiative, SB75.
In addition to requiring hotels and casinos to adopt anti-sexual harassment policies, SB75 requires safety devices, like panic buttons, be available to employees. Under this legislation retaliation against employees using a panic button is prohibited.
“This year I was proud to sponsor many pieces of legislation to protect women and ensure their safety in the workplace,” said Batinick. “This bill is a necessary addition to our arsenal and a step forward in making workplaces across our state better and safer places to work for every employee.”
SB75 passed unanimously in the House of Representatives on the last day of legislative session. The bill is effective immediately.
