Schiff Censure


We thought that when House Minority Leader Kevin McCarthy officially endorsed censuring Democrat Rep. Adam Schiff, Chairman of the House Permanent Select Committee on Intelligence and the ringleader of the Democrats’ impeachment cabal it would unite Republicans behind Rep. Andy Biggs’ motion to call Schiff to account for his behavior.

While Schiff is easily the vilest human being to serve in Congress in the modern era, with a long record of lying to his colleagues and the public, the impetus for McCarthy’s action was Schiff’s complete fabrication of the contents of the President’s phone call with the leader of Ukraine.

“Chairman Adam Schiff has been lying to the American people for years,” McCarthy said in a tweet. “Now he is so desperate to damage the president that he literally made up a false version of a phone call. Enough is enough.”

Despite Minority Leader McCarthy’s call to action at least sixteen House Republicans failed to join the rest of the House Republican Conference and cosponsor the resolution censuring Schiff for lying to Congress and the American people.

Several of those on the list, such as Martha Roby of Alabama, Francis Rooney of Florida and Mac Thornberry of Texas have announced their retirement from Congress. Rooney and Thornberry are consequential members of the House Republican Conference and we hope this does not mean they have essentially checked out of participating in anything controversial between now and the swearing-in of their successors.

And let’s be clear about what not cosponsoring the censure resolution really means: It means that those Republican members of Congress are defending a serial liar and person who has done more to divide the country than anyone since the Civil War.

And these lies aren’t ancient history.

Schiff lied to MSNBC contributor and Daily Beast editor Sam Stein about never having spoken to the Ukraine whistleblower during an appearance on “Morning Joe” on September 17.

The California Democrat once insinuated that a blocked call on Donald Trump Jr.’s cellphone was to tell his father about an upcoming meeting with a Russian lawyer. It turned out that the call was to a business associate reported Rowan Scarborough of the Washington Times.

“Adam Schiff lied about having quote-unquote stone-cold evidence about Russia collusion,” White House spokesman Hogan Gridley told Fox News.

Mr. Schiff’s most recent allegation had even some normally loyal pundits criticizing him noted Mr. Scarborough.

At a Sept. 26 nationally televised hearing, Mr. Schiff said Mr. Trump requested that Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky fabricate evidence against former Vice President Joseph R. Biden. In other words, Mr. Trump was asking Mr. Zelensky to commit a felony.

After two days of taking heat, the California Democrat shifted his defense, tweeting that the unidentified anti-Trump whistleblower “confirmed” the quote. He didn’t explain where. It isn’t in the nine-page complaint against Mr. Trump that the whistleblower, a CIA analyst and Democrat, sent the House and Senate intelligence committees.

The above are just a few of the blatant lies that Schiff has put into the public record in his attempt to overturn the 2016 election, and if this litany isn’t worthy of censure we can’t imagine what Schiff would have to do to earn the opprobrium of the sixteen House Republicans who refused to cosponsor the Andy Biggs censure resolution.

In fairness their defenders will say that when Democrats moved to table the censure resolution all Republicans voted against that parliamentary maneuver to kill it – but that would not be true. Twelve Republicans, including Rep. Francis Rooney, failed to vote.
