Has anyone read about the Democratic controlled Will County Board’s vote on October 17th to go full “tax to the max” with the upcoming tax levy? Don’t worry, your not alone. I haven’t found one news source that accurately reported it either. I would love for someone to send me a link showing me I missed it.
Since I have served the residents of Will County District 12, the Republicans were in control of the County board and had never voted to include All New Construction as well as Full CPI in the upcoming levy. For those not familiar, often times taking New Construction plus full CPI is what is commonly called “Tax to the Max”. Simply meaning they can raise the levy the maximum amount allowed by the law. Not once did we ever do that.
In November of 2018, we lost our majority. The first levy vote taken since losing the Majority. Yep. You guessed it. Full Tax to the Max.
We are now on to the next tax vote. The Gas Tax vote.
I have always voiced my opinions but have always remained respectful. The Residents of Will County have spoken and I Honor their decisions. While I don’t agree with these votes lately, I fully respect My colleagues. However, sometimes I sit back and just wonder if that’s what the residents want. Maybe I am just old school and too fiscally conservative for what the County residents currently desire.
