Parroting academicians in now-sullied Ivory Towers, Democratic scolds running for president have been lecturing Americans on the pervasiveness of the white scourge of “systemic racism.” Elizabeth Warren said, “Two sets of rules: one for white families. And one for everybody else. That’s how a rigged system works.” Joe Biden calls racism “overwhelmingly a white man’s problem visited on people of color” and “systematic racism…. [has] been built into every aspect of our system.” Pete Buttigieg asserts that “systemic racism is a white problem.” Beto O’Rourke thunders “Racism in America is endemic.”

Well, Heather MacDonald, author, Thomas W. Smith Fellow at the Manhattan Institute, and contributing editor of City-Journal throws yet another counter-narrative wrench into the works:…It is now a standard trope, implanted in freshmen summer reading lists through the works of Ta-Nehesi Coates and others, that whites pose a severe, if not mortal, threat to blacks. That may have once been true, but it is no longer so today. Just this month, the Bureau of Justice Statistics released …

MacDonald, armed with an arsenal of statistical wrenches, does a lot of narrative- disrupting.

In all the warranted laments about the numerous blights affecting the urban black community, including gun violence; drug use; gang-infestations; and disproportionately high rates of out-of-wedlock pregnancies, abortion, sex-trafficking, sexually transmitted infections, and school drop-out rates, the two related potential causes virtually never mentioned are absent fathers and broken families.

The sexual revolution and subsequent homosexual revolution have made it politically impossible for leaders in either politics or academia to address the importance of intact families headed whenever possible by children’s biological mothers and fathers. How can a party beholden to tyrannical “LGBTQ” activists who necessarily assert that mothers or fathers are dispensable possibly say what Barack Obama said before he became “woke”:…Fathers provide the discipline, guidance, and love it takes to flourish. With persistence and patience, generosity and integrity, they build our cores and help us understand right from wrong. They are some of our earliest and strongest sources of support and encouragement, and they serve as role mod…

Then Obama woke up and endorsed a form of marriage that embodies the assumption that either mothers or fathers are dispensable to the lives of children:

[The Obergefell decision legalizing same-sex “marriage” is] a victory for gay and lesbian couples who have fought so long for their basic civil rights. It’s a victory for their children, whose families will now be recognized as equal to any other.

It is no victory for children to be deliberately denied either a mother or a father and taught through law that all family structures are created equal.

Democrats are right. There is a problem of systemic racism. They’re just wrong about the “system” or “systems” it is corroding. Democrats are wrong too about the sociological cause of the violence that plagues our black communities. It’s not systemic hatred on the parts of whites toward blacks that results in blacks committing 537,204 acts of interracial felonies in 2018.
