Do Illinoisans need another reason to vote Democrats out of office? No, of course they don’t, but here’s one anyway. Last June, Governor J.B. Pritzker signed into law a wildly partisan bill that requires Illinois taxpayers to subsidize the college educations of illegal aliens and students who pretend to be the sex they are not (also known euphemistically as “transgender”). The reason Pritzker and his collaborators in Springfield are now forcing Illinois taxpayers to pay for these students’ college educations is that illegal aliens and some cross-sex passers are ineligible for federal aid, so they figure Illinois taxpayers should take up the slack. Illegal aliens are ineligible because they’re, well, illegal aliens, and young men who pretend to be women are ineligible when they refuse to register for the Selective Service—as required by federal law.

What word do you suppose the malfeasants in Springfield added to the bill’s title to give it a positive gloss for the gullible? Go ahead, take a shot. If you guessed “equity,” five stars for you!

The bill—now law—is titled “The Retention of Illinois Students and Equity Act.” According to regressives, forcing struggling Illinois taxpayers to subsidize the college educations of illegal aliens and young men who refuse to register with the Selective Service constitutes equity. ( Il. Congressman Dan Lipinski voted for this)

I hear the sound of more moving trucks rolling up to the homes of Illinoisans bound for Florida, Texas, Indiana, Wisconsin, and Tennessee.

Here’s some interesting information from the bill:

[F]unding additional recipients would either require additional appropriations or shifting dollars from other low-income students who are currently eligible. Based on limited available data … approximately 3,500 students may become newly eligible for the Monetary Award Program (MAP) under HB 2691 … adding about $9.0 million in annual demand for the program. Without additional funding, adding new recipients would require shifting dollars from other recipients. … This estimate could be low for several reasons. Overall demand for funding could increase in future years as additional students apply. (emphasis added)

The lone Republican who voted for this offensive bill was lame-duck Margo McDermed (R-Mokena), which is particularly noteworthy because when she voted against the “LGBT” school indoctrination bill, she said she did so, not because of its content but because of its cost to taxpayers:

“It’s not … that [the “LGBT” school indoctrination bill] is not a good cause,” said McDermed, a Republican from Mokena. “It’s about our poor, beleaguered taxpayers.”

Are taxpayers no longer beleaguered?

The bill’s chief co-sponsor in the Illinois House was lesbian Kelly Cassidy (D-Chicago), “wife” of Candace Gingrich, Newt Gingrich’s lesbian half-sister and activist for the Human Rights Campaign. Cassidy’s central goal in life seems to be to use the law and Illinois citizens’ money to advance her sexuality ideology and to promote feticide.

She was joined by lawmakers Senators Kimberly Lightford (D-Westchester) and Heather Steans (D-Chicago) on the Senate side—both of whom have adult sons who choose to “identify” as women—and by the regressive squad of 16 about whom I wrote earlier this week—the ones who refused to answer questions for Illinois Family Action’s Voter Guide.

IFA shares the sentiment—but not the goals—of Hollywood actors who desperately want Americans to vote on Election Day. If we hope to preserve what little good remains in Illinois; if we hope to protect the lives of the unborn from the barbarous, self-serving desires of regressives; if we hope to retain a morsel of liberty and a pittance of our own hard-earned money; if we hope to be free to teach our children that the “trans” ideology is a science-denying, blasphemous, body- and soul-destroying fiction and that not all family structures are equal, then we must vote.
