Unleash Prosperity Hotline

1)Here’s How Fast One Good Idea Traveled To The White House

On Saturday, Fox News host Dana Perino, who was White House press secretary under President George W. Bush, tweeted out an idea:  I think we need a 2nd task force assembled at direction of POTUS to look ahead to reopening of the economy. Made up of a nonpartisan/bipartisan mix of experts across industry sectors, so that we have their recommendations & plan – let 1st taskforce focus on crisis at the moment.

Within hours, President Trump responded to her suggestion.  He tweeted out it was “a good idea” and told reporters at Saturday’s White House press briefing that “I’m thinking about it…I continue to say, the cure cannot be worse than the problem itself.”We are working hard to have Arthur Laffer chair this task force.  Who would be better?

2)Heroines Of The Day
In South Dakota, Republican Governor Kristi Noem told reporters she did not plan on issuing a “shelter in place” lockdown order for her state. “The people themselves are primarily responsible for their safety,” she said. The governor also pointed to the state and national constitutions that “prevent us from taking draconian measures much like the Chinese government has done.”Noem did urge state residents to continue social distancing practices and good hygiene as recommended by the White House. In Iowa, Republican Governor Kim Reynolds took the same approach in rejecting a lockdown.  “I can’t lock the state down,” Reynolds told reporters “I can’t lock everybody in their home. We have to make sure that the supply chain is up and going. We have an essential workforce that has to be available.”

3) Scary Headline Of The Day
Can The President Declare Martial Law In Response To Corona Virus? – Headline in The Hill, a Capitol Hill newspaper.  Thankfully, the consensus for now is, no. https://thehill.com/opinion/judiciary/491155-can-the-president-declare-martial-law-in-response-to-coronavirus

4) A Crisis Is A Terrible Thing To Waste
Joe Biden appeared on ABC’s “This Week” on Sunday and told George Stephanopoulos that Congress will need “at least two more iterations” of a stimulus bill “to help the economy.”Remember that Ronald Reagan always said to run when someone says “I’m from the government, and I’m here to help you.”

5) Keep an eye on Sweden
The only country in Western Europe that hasn’t gone on lockdown is Sweden, where most businesses are open, even bars and restaurants with appropriately distanced sit-down service.  Colleges and high schools are closed but primary schools are open.  It’s not business as usual – but the economy is pretty much up and running.”The crux of the argument put forth by Anders Tegnell, Sweden’s Chief Epidemiologist, and other leaders is essentially that nobody really knows what approach works best for a virus like this, and that the difference in outcomes between draconian lockdowns and a more relaxed approach may not be all that different in the end.”Sweden — like the U.S. states taking less draconian approaches — is under intense pressure to conform.  But as of now their virus numbers are relatively low: 6,830 confirmed cases with 401 deaths. https://www.forbes.com/sites/gabrielleigh/2020/04/05/sweden-has-no-coronavirus-lockdown-but-can-it-last/
