Kankakee’s Riverside Foundation Awarded Starbucks Grant
KANKAKEE–State Representative Lindsay Parkhurst recently announced The Riverside Foundation in Kankakee will be receiving a Starbuck’s Foundation neighborhood grant as part of the company’s community response program to COVID-19.
The Riverside Foundation was established in 1968 to build philanthropic support for Riverside Healthcare to ensure the best technology and highest quality healthcare is available to the region.
The Starbucks Foundation built up $7.5 million in donations to respond to COVID-19 in communities nationwide. As the company continues to navigate COVID-19, they awarded neighborhood grants to 400 organizations, which were nominated by over 3000 Starbucks employees who shared the organizations in their communities that are doing good work.
Out of the 400 organizations chosen, the Riverside Foundation was one of ten chosen organizations in Illinois to receive the grant.
“I see the power of our community in the 79th District come together to help each other out during this trying time,” said Rep. Parkhurst. “I commend Starbucks for starting this grant program and for recognizing the hard work our community health care providers do and continue to do throughout this crisis. This grant will only help them do more and help more people. Congratulations and thank you to Riverside for all they do for our community.”
The Starbucks Foundation started in 1997 to support and strengthen local communities in the United States and Canada. To date, they donated more than one million in grants to continue this work and fight COVID-19.
