For Immediate Release ICYMI: Ives Keeps Momentum Going Through Shut Down June 15, 2020 – The COVID shut down changed the way political campaigns reach voters. Jeanne Ives’ congressional campaign embraced the changes by expanding its digital platform and reach. The campaign also found new ways to engage in voter outreach, including setting up food drives around the district to help local food pantries meet an increased demand, and designing a tee-shirt that is being sold online to help raise money for rent and utility assistance. “Our message of confidence in the people of IL-06, has not changed,” said Ives. “But the world has. My campaign is committed to meeting people where they are.” Zoom Interviews: One-on-One with Jeanne Local experts and business owners share their experience and expertise with Jeanne. “Relentless” Tee-Shirt Sales
The COVID shut down has made it difficult for many local families to keep up with their monthly bills. In response, Jeanne Ives’ congressional campaign (IL-06) has launched an online fundraising initiative to help support those in need of rent or utility assistance. The proceeds from each shirt will benefit The St. Vincent de Paul Society of St. Michael.
District Wide Food Drives
Local Food Pantries have fallen short of donations and volunteers during this Covid-19 pandemic. The Jeanne For Congress Campaign sponsored drive thru food collection events to respond to the ongoing demand.
The campaign’s first food drive was on April 25 and held in Wheaton, Palatine and Downers Grove.
For the May 30th event, the campaign expanded the drive to include 6 locations around the district in Wheaton, Palatine, Downers Grove, Lisle, Crystal Lake and South Elgin.
Campaign staff wore masks and gloves to help transport donations from participants’ cars.
