(ConservativePeak.com)- On Thursday, the Secretary-General of the United Nations, Antonio Guterres, suggested that the world would be better off if it achieved some kind of multilateral government that removed the idea of “national interests.” Guterres mulled the idea of a global government as a solution to the fact that the UN Security Council might exert influence, but ultimately shows “little or not appetite to bite.”
Guterres made the comments as the UN celebrates the 75th anniversary of the agreement of the UN Charter, which is the founding document and instrument of the globalist body. Guterres said that, in order to move forward, leaders need to “re-imagine the way nations cooperate.”
“We need a networked multilateralism, bringing together the U.N. system, regional organizations, international financial institutions and others,” he said. “And we need inclusive multilateralism, drawing on the indispensable contributions of civil society, business, cities, regions, and in particular, with greater weight given to the voices of youth,” he said at a digital press conference.
Guterres’ comments should be alarming to anybody who knows that young people are more inclined to think as left-wing progressives, and more likely to reject conservative ideas of freedom and individual responsibility. It is clear to many people that giving greater weight to the voices of young people is really just an attempt at silencing conservatives.

Guterres also said that in the 21st century, “we need an effective multilateralism that can function as an instrument of global governance where it is needed.”
He went on to say that today’s multilateralism “lacks scale, ambition and teeth,” before arguing that his idea was about achieving peace between nations. He predicted that, because of the United Nations, a third world war was avoided and that multilateral governance will help prevent further wars.
“We had what many called the ‘long peace’ with many small conflicts, but conflicts in which the big powers did not get involved against each other,” he said.
