The Mayor of Homer Glen says I am spreading rumors and misinformation about the Village with no basis in truth. I am denouncing his statements as a poor attempt to redirect the negative attention he is receiving from the village residents in regards to his destructive comprehensive plan.
In a independent survey sent out by a concerned village homeowner, 1600 residents responded. Of the 1600 an overwhelming 96% were against the mayor’s proposed plan. As expected Mayor Yukich dismissed that survey and used his survey which used leading questions and only had 600 responders.
In my opinion the first instance of misinformation from the Village was when they misled voters to think that a no vote to abolish the Homer Township Road district would instantly give control of the that taxing body to Homer Glen. The “no” vote was actually to stop the dissolution of the road district and to not give control to the township. The Village of Homer Glen was not mentioned in the Township Referendum. I voted no to keep things the same which means the road district would remain its own seperate entity. I voted “no” to allow the Village of Homer Glen to take control and create the first “Municipal Property Tax” $57 per $100,000 of Market Value. Got to love how they spin things to get what they want. The entire board was in favor and passed this new tax for the exception of Trustee Sweas and Trustee Pazmino.
The second village lie in my opinion is that there are no current plans for apartments or a sports complex. The proposed comprehensive plan lists a sports complex, along with increasing the density substantially. After the new comprehensive plan is passed, that plan will become the blueprint for future development. Therfore any developer can come in and build apartments and cannot be stopped as it is listed in the comp plan.
At the last planning commission meeting, the opposition of the proposed Comprehensive plan was so great that the Commission decided to table this plan until further notice. This plan was tabled until further notice or rather until after the local election.
In my opinion the Mayor is using the Village Website and his new “Rumor Mill” media platform for political campaign purposes. Do not let these people fool you, they have an agenda and we are all in the way.
Sincerely,
Stephen J Balich
