Dense subdivisions in Lockport, and N.E. Homer Glen where I live have been here for a long time and are attractive subdivisions where people buy property and like where they live. These subdivisions look very nice, and people that bought homes there don’t mind the density. I used to live in Forest Manor which was unincorporated Homer Township and is less dense than my current residence in N.E. Homer Glen. These subdivisions are all established and have hardly any crime and are well past being an impact on the schools or Fire Department.

The “New Homer Glen Comprehensive Plan” called for Apartment developments not owned housing mostly around 159th St. in Homer Glen.

Apartment developments bring down the value of nearby property. They bring more children to the schools, and cause an increase in Police and Fire calls as well as traffic and road repair. The newer apartment developments in Orland Park are a good example of what I am talking about.

Many people in Homer Glen bought property with plenty of open space and with less density. Most of the vacant land is in those sections. This new Comprehensive Plan would impact these residents the most. The New Comprehensive plan also called for larger lots to sub-divide into smaller lots. It is wrong to allow more density so the Village can get more people.

If I wanted to move, I would look in Cedar Ridge, Victoria Crossings, or Willow Walk, or back to Forest Manor. Condo’s and Town Homes are owned and well taken care of. The costs related to apartment developments are too high.

It seems the Current Comprehensive Plan has been working for everyone except the Village of Homer Glen. The Homer Glen Plan Commission listened to its residents and tabled the vote to approve, sending it back for revisions. It will be back sooner or later. Residents will be watching as to what the new plan is including. We don’t want apartment developments! We don’t want increased density!
