Steve Balich Editors Note: In Illinois Republicans are not liking it while JB smirk’s and says Oh Well. the Supreme Court need to step in but God only knows if they have the courage. We live in the results of a bloodless Coup d’éta which means our Constitution is now up for grabs. Logic and common sense are now outrageous.

Once again casting any conservative as an “extremist,” President Biden and groups allied with his administration, including the Democratic National Committee, are ” planning to engage fact-checkers more aggressively and work with SMS carriers to dispel misinformation … that is sent over social media and text messages.”

Your private texts are now fair game for the regime to try and trample your first amendment rights.

A look at history will reveal that stifling dissent is among the first steps toward a socialist government.

In Germany, on Feb. 27, 1933, after the burning of the Reichstag, Hitler issued an emergency declaration that stated, “Restrictions on personal liberty, on the right of free expression of opinion, including freedom of the press; on the rights of assembly and association; and violations of the privacy of postal, telegraphic and telephonic communications and warrants for house searches, orders for confiscations as well as restrictions on property, are also permissible beyond the legal limits otherwise prescribed.” There followed a roundup of dissenters who were imprisoned and murdered.

A look at current socialist/communist regimes such as Iran, Venezuela, Cuba, China and North Korea reveals there is no dissent allowed, in the media or otherwise. Dissenters are imprisoned, gunned down or simply disappear. Even in Russia, now a quasi-democracy, press freedoms have been greatly curtailed.

This is where our once-great country is headed, and it seems the First Amendment no longer matters.

Meanwhile, what about government deception and misinformation? Artifices of deception are almost everything you read and hear. Because, as is always the case with Socialists, rules are for thee and not for me. The elites manipulate your mind against your best interest from cradle to grave. They convince you to eat foods and take medicines that will harm you and your children. They create wars of human sacrifice under benevolent terms like patriotism. They set up a Gestapo and call it “homeland security.” And anybody not desensitized knows that the “Patriot Act” was the codification of a war on the American people and human liberty.

We are now face-to-face with a modern star chamber. Patriotism is the cover. The American flag is the symbol.

Perhaps it shouldn’t come as a surprise given endless attempts by the American left to block 1st Amendment rights in an effort to make the nation one big utopian safe space.

Any true liberty lover was appalled by the results of polling data that showed just how many Americans “can’t name any” 1st Amendment protections.

According to data compiled in the Annenberg Foundation’s annual Constitution Day Civics Survey, asked to name any of the rights guaranteed under the First Amendment of the U.S. Constitution:

  • 73% of Americans named freedom of speech (thankfully, up from 48% in 2017)
  • 47% named freedom of religion
  • 42% named freedom of the press
  • 34% named right of assembly
  • 14% named right to petition the government
  • And 19% of those polled could not name any First Amendment right

Those who mean to rule over you do not want you to know what’s in the Constitution, that it protects you from the government. They do not want you to remember, as the Electronic Frontier Foundation pointed out, “The Supreme Court … directly recognized that freely associating for advocacy or other purposes is a fundamental right. It noted that state invasions of privacy could infringe on that right: ‘It is beyond debate that freedom to engage in association for the advancement of beliefs and ideas is an inseparable aspect of the “liberty” assured by the Due Process Clause of the Fourteenth Amendment, which embraces freedom of speech… Of course, it is immaterial whether the beliefs sought to be advanced by association pertain to political, economic, religious or cultural matters, and state action which may have the effect of curtailing the freedom to associate is subject to the closest scrutiny.’

“In short, we all have the right to engage in associate with one another and to join and communicate with political and religious groups free from government surveillance … The surveillance of our communications systems, and thereby the surveillance of our communications, infringes on the very rights of private assembly upheld by the Supreme Court in 1958.”

Remember: The 1st Amendment, when correctly applied, should make people uncomfortable — especially those in government — because it applies to everyone.

Yet both truth and dissent — which may or may not be the same thing — are like kryptonite to the power elite. The Founders understood this. They also understood that propaganda was a powerful tool, but that it could be overcome only by allowing a free press.

Those who join in condemning “misinformation” and seek to shut down freely exchanged information on the premise that those people are may be engaging in “dangerous extremism” are advocating for their own slavery. If government can shut down even one thing it deems fake, it can shut them all down.

And then what are we left with?
