You’ve probably heard the term stem cells – those cells in your body that can be used to make other cells. They can turn into brain cells, muscle cells and even different types of fat cells.

This is important because our bodies have a far harder time processing food than we can imagine.

Overeating causes impaired metabolism leading to insulin resistance, abdominal obesity and inflammation. How serious is this? The answer is that they are markers for heart disease and cancer.

You may not ever read anything about your health more important than the metabolic effects of insulin.

This is serious information that few know about and this is an alternative to conventional drug medicine.

It does not matter what your health concern is, you can do something about it by concentrating on fixing your insulin. You can stop the progression of your health problem or you may reverse it completely depending on how well you digest this information and how disciplined you are to have good and excellent health and to extend your years on this earth.

Researchers have long known that defects in an ancient cellular antenna called the primary cilium are linked with obesity and insulin resistance. But a study at the Stanford University School of Medicine we know how to block that process.

Basically, they found that those strange little cellular appendages are able to sense omega-3 fatty acids in your diet.

When you get enough of them, it changes the way the stem cells in your fat tissue divide and turn into fat cells.

When omega-3 fatty acids bind to a receptor called FFAR4 on the cilia of your fat stem cells, it signals them to divide, leading to the creation of more fat cells.

While this might sound like a bad thing (after all, who wants more fat cells), it’s actually just the opposite.

More fat cells give your body a way to store energy, something that is healthier than storing too much fat in existing fat cells.

“What you want is more, small fat cells rather than fewer, large fat cells,” says senior author Peter Jackson, Ph.D., professor of microbiology and immunology and of pathology. “A large fat cell is not a healthy fat cell. The center is farther away from an oxygen supply, it sends out bad signals and it can burst and release toxic contents.”

Large fat cells are associated with insulin resistance, diabetes and inflammation. This means that omega-3s play a huge role in preventing all of these problems.

And a lack of omega-3s could lead to excess fat. That’s because according to the researchers, when they blocked the action of omega-3s on that ciliary signaling, it resulted in the addition of fat to existing cells. Can you see your waistline expanding?

This means that you now have one more reason to make omega-3s part of your daily routine — to make those “ciliary appendages” work in your favor.

Food Cures

Lower your insulin levels by exchanging Omega-6 foods for Omega-3 foods i.e. vegetables for pasta, fish for red meat, etc.

Understanding that foods heal and keep us healthy is the elixir of life. This is anathema to modern medicine which implies that sickness is a drug deficit.

Oh, yes, most doctors would laugh at this but nevertheless, their total approach to sickness implies that human sickness is drug related and drug dependent.

To supplement your omega-3 intake, it’s good to follow a few simple rules when it comes to picking any supplement you want to take for optimal omega-3 intake.

  1. First, it needs to offer both EPA and DHA, the most essential omega-3 fatty acids.
  2. Second, it also should include omega-9 to enhance its effects for full body health.
  3. Third, it needs to be ultra-pure since too many fish oils on the market come from contaminated sources.

For these reasons, I advise against merely taking “fish oil” to increase your omega-3 intake. Instead, I always recommend krill oil.

There are subtle but important differences between fish and krill. The most notable is that fish produce omega-3 through eating algae, so it’s stored in a “triglyceride” form. In krill omega-3s are in the “phospholipid” form which is the kind that’s absorbed directly into your body tissue.

This is why krill oil is superior at lowering inflammation and fighting excess fat creation. Try to get at least 75 mg per day of your omega-3 in the form of DHA. If you can, get it from a pure source of krill oil like this one.
