President Joe Biden is reportedly pressuring Mexico to accept migrants from Latin American nations under the Title 42 coronavirus expulsion order that the administration publicly pushed to end as some Republican governors have started to send illegal immigrants to Democrat-controlled areas.

Reuters reported that the administration is pushing Mexico to accept migrants from Cuba, Nicaragua, and Venezuela because of the difficulty in deporting them from the U.S.

The report noted that the historic 1.8 million migrant arrests alone in fiscal year 2022 underscored the “political liabilities” created by the crisis on the southern border, which many experts say was caused by the administration’s lack of border enforcement and incentives.

The report said that Biden officials believe that using Title 42 is a way to deter migrants from illegally crossing into the U.S. “even if it contradicts the Democratic Party’s more welcoming message toward migrants.”

Mexico reportedly does not want the migrants from those three nations because those nations also push back against having to accept deportation flights from Mexico, the report said.

The report added that El Paso, which it noted was a “Democrat-controlled city,” “has contracted charter buses to carry migrants north to New York City, an effort that comes after the Republican governors of Texas and Arizona drew national attention by busing thousands of migrants to Democrat-led northern cities.”

The report said that the administration was also pressuring Panama and the Dominican Republic to take migrants.

The report comes as Governor Ron DeSantis (R-FL) followed through Wednesday on a promise to send illegal immigrants to Democrat-controlled areas by sending two planes of illegal immigrants to Martha’s Vineyard, a Massachusetts island, that is home to wealthy progressives like former President Barack Obama.

“Yes, Florida can confirm the two planes with illegal immigrants that arrived in Martha’s Vineyard today were part of the state’s relocation program to transport illegal immigrants to sanctuary destinations,” an official for DeSantis’ office said in a statement. “States like Massachusetts, New York, and California will better facilitate the care of these individuals who they have invited into our country’ by incentivizing illegal immigration through their designation as ‘sanctuary states’ and support for the Biden Administration’s open border policies.”

The official continued, “As you may know, in this past legislative session the Florida Legislature appropriated $12 million to implement a program to facilitate the transport of illegal immigrants from this state consistent with federal law.”
