What the candidates ignore Chicago’s mayoral election is just 24 days away and the candidates continue to largely ignore the real issues impacting Chicagoans. Most of them want to further decriminalize crime, but they ignore the fact that 95% of the city’s homicide victims are black or Hispanic. A weaker criminal justice system will mean even more minority deaths. Many of the candidates are also celebrating CPS’ record graduation rates, but they don’t care that 9 of every 10 black students can’t read at grade level. Graduation means nothing if students don’t have reading skills. And most of the candidates are pushing for even more “investments” – meaning more spending – though they know Chicagoans are already taxed out. Some Hispanic communities have seen their property taxes double this year. In the interview below, we make the case that…The “equity” agenda is harming the very people it pretends to help. The crippling of the criminal justice system has destroyed police morale, leading to far more violence. The constant caving-in to the CTU has led to abysmal learning outcomes for Chicago’s children. |
“Equity” has proven toxic to Chicago and it needs to be rejected. The question is, will any of the candidates do so? And will any candidate fight to bring back the principles of merit, competence, achievement and common sense? Join us in pushing back against Chicago’s failed policies.
