And the FBI is going down in flames after being caught colluding with this foreign power.
The average American has developed a deep distrust for the federal government.
According to the Pew Research Center, only 20% of Americans trust the United States government to do the right thing always or most of the time.
Compare that to 73% back in 1958 when President Eisenhower was at the helm.
And this isn’t just some fad or animal spirit moving people to hate the government for no good reason. Americans have been treated day in and day out to countless scandals and allegations of corruption.
Even supposedly unbiased judiciaries, bureaus, and agencies have proven they are nothing more than cogs in the political machine.
One of the hardest hit has been the FBI, who have been accused of everything from targeting pro-life Americans and Catholics to running cover for Joe Biden’s administration.
Now you can add foreign collusion – the exact same thing they accused Trump of doing – to the list.
According to a 26-page report from the House Judiciary Committee, the FBI facilitated censorship requests from Ukrainian intelligence against American citizens.
This happened despite there being concern that Ukrainian intelligence had been infiltrated by Russian actors.
Supposedly, after Russia invaded Ukraine, the Security Service of Ukraine (SBU) sought to fight Russian influence on social media and used FBI contacts as their weapons.
“The SBU enlisted the FBI in support of this effort, transmitting to the FBI lists of social media accounts that allegedly ‘spread Russian disinformation.’ The FBI, in turn, routinely relayed these lists to the relevant social media platforms, which distributed the information internally to their employees in charge of content moderation and enforcement,” the report said.
The new House committee report showed that the FBI flagged accounts and posts for social media companies at the behest of the SBU, including posts from “authentic accounts of Americans … a verified U.S. State Department account and those belonging to American journalists.”
“At times, the FBI would even follow up with the relevant platform to ensure that ‘these accounts were taken down.’ Regardless of its intended purpose in endorsing the SBU’s requests, the FBI had no legal justification for facilitating the censorship of Americans’ protected speech on social media,” according to the report.
As the FBI was rubberstamping these requests, Russians were reportedly gaining access to the SBU.
Even last July, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky fired the head of the SBU, citing dozens of cases of those under his authority working with Russian agents, Reuters reported.
Months prior to Zelensky’s attempted crackdown on Russian agents within his intelligence team, an FBI agent sent an email to Meta in March 2022, specifying accounts that the SBU wanted the social media giant to axe, according to the report.
“I have a few more Instagram and [Facebook] accounts that according to the SBU spread Russian disinformation. For your review and action as deemed appropriate,” special agent Aleksandr Kobzanets wrote to a Meta employee on March 1, 2022.
Regardless of intent, the FBI violated the rights of Americans, says the report.
“This report details misconduct by the FBI that is unconstitutional,” the House committee report claimed.
“It is also counterproductive to the professed aims of the Biden Administration regarding U.S. support for Ukraine, and it endangers our national security. The FBI’s conflation of domestic speech with foreign malign influence poses a grave threat to Americans’ civil liberties.”
