Vote!!! Your property value and monthly budget may be at risk
By Steve Balich March 21, 2017
It is Very important to vote in local elections because local boards have the most impact on your property taxes.  http://willcountynews.com/2016/03/18/americans-for-prosperity-illinois-continues-fighting-higher-property-taxes/

Property tax is one of the most important issues voted on with local Boards. We need to elect people that want to freeze or lower our taxes which means cutting spending. We need to elect those that will think of the consequence to taxpayers that elected them. We must stop the continued increase of property tax each year. The question before starting a project should be ” Do taxpayers want to pay more in taxes to do the project” and then the consideration is whether the project is absolutely necessary for public safety. Government needs to separate absolute needs from wants. The most important part of government is public safety. Everything else involving local government can be decided by referendum if it will cause an increase in taxes. People paying the bill should decide if they want a certain project not a small group of people on a Board.

Seven Cities in Illinois followed the lead of Homer Township’s Steve Balich passing an advisory tax referendum. Governor Rauner Wants a property tax freeze. The people we elect to the local boards don’t hear the taxpayer for the most part. School Boards seem to be the main culprits  defying the will of the people with yearly tax increases. It seems that salaries of public sector employees are  much higher than the private sector with better benefits. http://willcountynews.com/2016/12/20/highly-compensated-public-servants-cost-illinois-taxpayers-over-8-billion/      http://willcountynews.com/2017/03/13/local-property-tax-spending-by-the-district-has-grown-mainly-due-to-teacher-salaries/
