Four Homer Junior High School golfers headed to State Tournament
When golfers tee off Saturday at the Illinois Elementary School Association (IESA) State Tournament in Peoria, four Homer Junior High School students will be among them.
The student athletes (who compete on their own) qualified individually for the State Tournament after and outstanding performance this past weekend at the IESA Sectional Tournament in Rockford.
“We have a record-setting year for IESA golf,” said Homer Junior High Athletic Director Amanda Monahan. “We had five golfers compete in the IESA Sectional Tournament this year; four qualified for the IESA State Tournament.”
The students finished in the top 10 at sectionals with one student coming in 2nd, one coming in 4th and two tying for 10th.
All four will compete for the state title Saturday (Sept. 17) at Kellogg Golf Course in Peoria. Tee times and tournament information can be found at: https://www.iesa.org/activities/go/
