Like many CEOs around the country this week, GrubHub’s Matt Maloney reached out to his employees on Wednesday to share his thoughts on the election. But unlike the conciliatory tones struck by Tim Cook, Jeff Bezos, and Mark Zuckerberg, his attempt to rally GrubHub workers was passionately anti-Donald Trump.
“While demeaning, insulting and ridiculing minorities, immigrants and the physically/mentally disabled worked for Mr. Trump, I want to be clear that this behavior–and those views, have no place at Grubhub,” Maloney wrote in a company-wide email. “Had he worked here, many of his comments would have resulted in his immediate termination.”
Then Maloney–who founded and continues to run the online food ordering and delivery service–went further, suggesting that anyone who agrees with Trump’s “nationalist, anti-immigrant and hateful politics” had no place at GrubHub.
Maloney’s email was first picked up by Fox News, which touted that Maloney was calling on all Trump voters to resign. Maloney told FORBES that’s not the case.
