Students mark anniversary of Boston Tea Party
Stage party of their own in school library
Hadley Middle School students marked the 243rd anniversary of the Boston Tea with a little party of their own.
On Dec. 16, students in Gail Mickelson’s social studies classes gathered in the school library to drink tea (apple cider) while watching a reenactment of the historical day.
Students sing about taxation without representation while celebrating the 243rd anniversary of the Boston Tea Party on Dec. 16.
They also sang songs about the event, helping them learn key facts about the day and what led up to it.
“Don’t take my money if I don’t have a say,” students belted out as they recalled the meaning behind “taxation without representation.”
In October, Mickelson’s classes were visited by a descendent of the Pilgrims who shared stories about his ancestor’s voyage to America.
