The world turns on oil.
It powers our cars, our electrical generating plants, our factories. The entire global economy is predicated on oil.
Wars are started and fought over oil. Oil funds them and fuels the fighting machines used in them.
The economies of whole nations depend solely on oil. Power brokers made rich by oil control the politicians of America and most of the world. The U.S. dollar is tied to oil.
So it is in the vested interest of the world’s power elite that we are dependent upon oil and remain so.
But imagine a world free of fossil fuel dependence — especially oil.
There would be no power bills, no gas bills, no auto fuel bills and no pollution from burning coal and oil. There would be no need for dangerous nuclear power (see Fukushima) and no need to worry about disposing of nuclear waste. No need to dam up rivers for hydroelectric power. No need for bird-killing windmills. No need for expansive, landmass-consuming solar panels. No need for pipelines spanning sacred Indian ground. No oil spills on the seas or the highways.
We were once almost there. I was reminded of this as we passed March 6, the significance of which will soon become clear.
In the 1960s, inventor Joseph Newman of Lucedale, Mississippi figured out how to harness electromagnetic fields much as man harnessed water power in the 4th century BC.  Newman accomplished what Albert Einstein, Michael Faraday, Nikola Tesla, and James Clerk Maxwell were unable to do. They knew about the magnetic field, but Joseph Newman was able to harness it and make it practical for the entire universe. These great scientists were unable to mechanically explain electricity and magnetism. It took Joseph Newman 14 years to perfect his unified mechanical field theory, which explains electricity, magnetism, gravity, inertia, and the wave/particle light theory.
Tesla predicted that whoever came up with a mechanical explanation of electricity would have the greatest invention of all time. This was the magnitude of the Newman Energy Machine which had the potential to revolutionize the world by producing limitless, pollution-free energy at no cost.
As word of Newman’s Energy Machine began to get out, he gained a lot of publicity. News organizations from nearby and nationally sent physicists, nuclear physicists, electrical engineers, chemists, mechanical engineers, electrical technicians and NASA scientists to examine the machine and, they hoped, expose Newman as a fraud. None could. Just the opposite, they determined that Newman’s machine challenged everything they thought they knew about electricity, magnetism and physics because it seemed to violate the laws of Conservation of Energy and the Laws of Thermodynamics. He appeared in a piece on CBS Evening News with Dan Rather, and on The Tonight Show with Johnny Carson.
Measurements at that time showed his machine created more than 800 times the energy it consumed. Some of the researchers sent to debunk Newman’s claims were so impressed with the invention that they agreed to join him — some for pay, some for free — to help him perfect and adapt the machine for practical use.
In 1979, Newman applied for a patent for his machine. The patent office dragged its feet before finally rejecting his application three years later, saying that “scientific consensus” held that perpetual motion machines were impossible. For his part, Newman did not claim his was a perpetual motion machine. Rather, he asserted that it was a device that used newly-discovered gyroscopic particles of matter. The patent officer who declined Newman’s patent was trained as a lawyer and did not have a background in engineering or science and admitted he did not understand Newman’s machine.
Newman appealed and the judge, who determined that he didn’t have the scientific background to make a ruling, appointed a special master to examine Newman’s machine and patent documents and rule whether a patent should be issued. That special master, unlike the lawyer who declined the patent application, was former Patent Office Commissioner William E. Schuyler Jr., who held a degree in electrical engineering.
Schuyler determined that Newman’s machine did exactly what Newman claimed it would do and that the machine was patentable. The patent office criticized Schuyler’s findings and the judge — who appointed Schuyler as special master precisely because he (the judge) was not a scientist or an engineer, but the Schuyler was — determined that some of Schuyler’s findings were erroneous. So the judge ruled against his own special master. The judge ordered the patent application be reconsidered by the patent office, and the same examiner rejected the application again.
Newman continued this battle in court and the patent commissioner requested for Newman to deliver a working model of his machine to the National Bureau of Standards (NBS) for a seven-month testing period, but the request included a clause allowing the NBS to dismantle the machine. Newman objected, so the patent commissioner amended his request to a 30-day testing period, allowed Newman, his counsel and one other person to be present during final testing, but also permitted the NBS to render the device inoperable in whole or in part without notifying Newman in advance. Newman again objected.
An agreement was finally reached and Newman delivered a machine to NBS for testing along with a full schematic and operating instructions. When the testing period was over, the NBS informed Newman the machine had never been operational and they were unable to test it. Newman arrived and immediately recognized why the machine didn’t work. A wire, in plain sight, was disconnected. Evidently, the NBS had let the machine sit idle for the entire time it was there and neither inspected it nor consulted the schematic to determine why it didn’t work.
Newman reconnected the wire and left the device with the agency for “more” testing. Months later, the NBS determined the device did not produce more energy than it expended. When Newman arrived to retrieve the machine he found that the NBS had grounded the machine, which the operating instructions and schematic clearly showed they were not to do. So Newman retrieved his machine and left Washington, D.C.
He continued to fight to obtain his patent, soliciting Congress for relief. Several bills were filed on his behalf, but none passed.
Embittered but undaunted, Newman continued his work. The passage of NAFTA in 1994 and the acquisition of a Mexican patent enabled Newman to put his work out in the public domain without, he thought, fear of his design being stolen without legal repercussions. He continued to develop and refine it.
In September of 2006 I attended Joseph Newman’s demonstration of his Newman Energy Machine in Mobile, Alabama. What I saw was a prototype that performed — issuing thousands of times output over input triggered by a battery system that the energy machine itself recharged. There was no external power of any kind. Its source of energy was the magnetic field. This machine ran cool. There is no cooling system, unlike internal combustion engines.
I attended another demonstration on October 29, 2006. Then I saw this engine adapted to a car accelerate up to 20 miles per hour.
After viewing the machine in action I wrote in my Bob Livingston Letter, (www.boblivingstonletter.com, subscription required):

What do we need to revolutionize the world energy problem now in our time? We need to get the word out to as many people as we can with the goal of reaching a critical mass in public knowledge of this invention. Once this is accomplished it is our judgment that it cannot be stopped… In addition to saturation of the public mind that this invention exists and is real and practical, Joseph Newman needs substantial financial partners. (Full disclosure: I made an investment in the Newman Energy Company following these demonstrations. –BL)

Then the unseen powers behind the energy industry and their symbiotic partners in government went to work again — as they had in his quest for a patent — to push the Energy Newman Machine back into the darkness.
More legal roadblocks appeared. Substantial investors that appeared imminent suddenly got cold feet. Attempts were made to steal his designs. He and his partners received death threats. The media turned on him.
Joseph Newman was being assaulted from all sides and his grand dream remained in his garage. Promise of its development into something useful seemed to fade away. He was subsequently unable to break the monopoly power that rules the earth and keeps the public suppressed with psychological terrorism and economic suppression.
A documentary on the Newman Energy Machine aired on Audience Channel last month. It showed that, toward the end, because of the ongoing pressures from above and Joseph Newman’s determined nature, he became estranged from his friends and family in his later years. They said his personality had changed significantly and he had become bitter and volatile.
The filmmakers spent a great deal of time with Newman, and Newman had become comfortable enough with them that in 2014 he allowed them to set up a meeting with a man who wanted to invest in the machine. After several meetings in which Newman was pleasant and agreeable, the investor told Newman his plan was to adapt the machine to run residential and commercial air conditioning units.
But Newman didn’t want that. He told the investor he wanted it put into an automobile.
The investor tried to explain that with the money he was going to invest, Newman could put one in his automobile.
But Newman wouldn’t have it. He accused the man of trying to steal his design, and drove him — and the filmmakers, who he accused of trying to set him up — out of the house.
A few months later, on March 6, 2015, Newman died of heart failure. In the last weeks of his life, with his health failing, he dismantled his machine and disposed of its parts.

Here is another documentary on the Newman Energy Machine.
