| Republican Marter gets a “Christmas Cheer” at Democrat’s OfficeWest Chicago, (December 21, 2019) Just before Christmas, Congressional Candidate, James Marter, read and hand delivered a letter addressed to House Democrat, Lauren Underwood of Illinois’ 14th Congressional District. An anti-impeachment, pro-Trump crowd had gathered to show their support for the President and for him, in front of Underwood’s West Chicago Office.The letter was respectful yet spirited, calling the impeachment a “coup d’état” and “treasonous.” Amid cheers from the supportive crowd, Marter’s letter promised that Republicans will turn the 14th District and many others, a “cheery, Holly red” next November. The first step in fulfilling that promise must be a win for him in the Republican Primary in March. “We need to be backing Marter, a real conservative, now to win the Primary,” one supporter said. “We need a candidate who has strong grassroots support and can get out the conservative vote in this district that Trump won.”“There are a number of less experienced candidates running in the Primary and others who are “less compelling,” said another Marter supporter, perhaps too much in the Christmas Spirit to name names. The overriding theme was: It will take a real conservative to win back this important seat and Marter has the goods.Underwood’s seat is indeed considered one of the most vulnerable seats in the House. Marter explained how her Conservative Review Scorecard ranks her less conservative than even Nancy Pelosi, Adam Schiff, Jerry Nadler and Maxine Waters. Informing voters on just how radical her voting record is, is one of the key ingredients to his success plan. He expects the approach will garner support not only from conservatives but independents, libertarians and “Trump Democrats” who feel abandoned by the extreme Left agenda of “impeachment followed by more impeachment,” as Marter put it.Marter’s “facts over rhetoric” approach seems to be distinguishing himself from others in the race. Even his emails are different than typical campaign emails, while certainly seeking donations, they also seek to educate and equip the grassroots to make a compelling case for the “real conservative” in the Primary.“You don’t put out a house fire with a cup of water” stated one supporter. “We need a strong, principled leader like Marter who represents the people and takes smart ideas to Washington, not forces Washington’s ideas on us. | Marter for CongressOswego, IL The Honorable Lauren UnderwoodUnited States House of Representatives2366 Rayburn House Office BuildingWashington, DC 20515 Dear Ms. Underwood,As a constituent as well as someone who has visited with literally thousands of constituents from the 14th District, I share in solidarity with them, the following opinion: What you, Nancy Pelosi and House Democrats have done in a strictly partisan fashion, with the impeachment of President Trump, is the exact definition of a coup, short for coup d’ état.While I presume, you’re very aware of the definition, having been complicit in it long before President Trump took office, I’ll share the definition here, for any additional readers who may benefit from the clarification:coup d’état – “a sudden and decisive action in politics, especially one resulting in a change of government illegally or by force.”Looking at the definition of treason, a case could be made that your Party has indeed committed that crime with their involvement:treason – “the offense of acting to overthrow one’s government or to harm or kill its sovereign.”Thankfully for America, the voters of our great country not only saw fit to elect President Trump as our nation’s 45th President (including a majority of voters in Illinois’ 14th District) but they also saw fit to elect a Republican majority in the Senate.In America, Our Constitution is the Supreme Law of the Land and it gives us the following direction about impeachment in Article I, Section 2, Clause 5 which says the “SENATE shall have SOLE power to try all Impeachments.” (Emphasis mine.)So, while your attempts to remove our President, (the 14th District’s choice for that office), were based on partisan, political hatred, the fate of your efforts is failure and rightfully so.I’ve been impressed to hear so many voters from the 14th tell me they were shocked to watch “impeachment witnesses” sit silent when asked if they had evidence of crimes by the President. So much so, I just uploaded a clip yesterday to my YouTube Channel, @marter4congress. I’m confident the voters in the 14th will be sharing this with friends and family over Christmas, Hanukah and New Years.Your fake impeachment has cost the country tens of millions in real tax dollars, many coming from the pockets and purses of the hard working people of the 14th District. This vain attempt to secure your re-election using our money is something your constituents are looking forward to paying you back with interest at the ballot box, when they send me to be your opponent in March and defeat you in November.In spite of your party’s divisive rhetoric and treasonous coup attempt, there is so much we are thankful for. The President and I share a love for life, family, faith, our freedoms, our troops, our nation and the things that unite all of us. We celebrate the record low unemployment for All Americans, including African-American, Hispanic, and Asian-Americans, our global leadership in energy production and our booming economy that is the envy of the world.Our borders are slowly getting more secure, our vets are getting better care and many troops are coming home from places we’ve spent enough time and blood on. Those who courageously remain deployed around the world are perhaps the most upset by your attempts to remove their revered Commander in Chief. Your distractions not only put our economy at risk but their very lives. Again, you can expect them to show their lack of appreciation at the ballot box in March and again in November.The political theater of impeachment has come to be known as the “Shiff Show” around the country.
