Rep. Welter launches cloth mask collection and donation drive to help slow the spread of COVID-19
MORRIS – State Representative David Allen Welter, R-Morris, announced today that he is offering his District Office in Morris as a collection point for individuals throughout Grundy County and the surrounding area who wish to donate homemade cloth masks for distribution to members of the community who want or need to obtain them.
Residents are encouraged to make and donate homemade cloth masks that will be provided to anyone in the community who requests one. Starting this Thursday, April 23, cloth masks can be donated contact-free in the lobby of Representative Welter’s District Office, located at 1715 N. Division Street, Suite E, in Morris, Monday through Friday between the hours of 10:00am and Noon. The office is recognizable with a large Illinois-shaped heart in the window. If possible, residents are asked to drop off their donated cloth masks in a plastic bag.
Any individuals, families, or organizations in need of a cloth mask are asked to contact Representative Welter’s office by phone at (815) 416-1475 or via e-mail at welter@ilhousegop.org to arrange for pick-up or contact-free delivery of their mask(s).
“Our community is full of goodwill and people who are ready to help others,” Welter said. “We are all committed to slowing the spread of COVID-19, supporting our frontline workers, and protecting the most vulnerable. I am happy to offer my district office as a collection point for local residents to donate homemade cloth masks so that my staff and I can distribute them to anyone in our community who needs one. I would like to thank everyone who has already reached out and offered to help. Together we are going to make sure cloth masks are readily available to everyone in our region who needs one.”
