GRANATA CALLS FOR OPPONENT TO RETURN CAMPAIGN CONTRIBUTIONS FROM TOP DONOR

FRANKFORT, Il. (July 1st 2020) — Will County Circuit Clerk Candidate Anthony Granata (R – Frankfort) is calling on his opponent in the November general election to return campaign contributions made to her by the debt collection firm Harris & Harris Ltd. The firm was contracted by the incumbent Circuit Clerk Andrea Lynn Chasteen to collect 90 days past due assessments and fines previously ordered by the court.

Since being granted the contract by Chasteen’s office, Harris & Harris Ltd. has donated $13,750 to Chasteen’s campaign committee, effectively becoming her top contributor. Granata feels that accepting campaign contributions from anyone contracted by an elected official’s office to work on behalf of the county does the taxpayers a grave disservice.

“There is zero transparency and accountability in the work being done by a county contractor who also happens to be the office holder’s top campaign contributor. In these instances, taxpayers have every right to question the quality, value, and integrity of the work,” said Granata. “This is pay to play politics, and when I’m elected, every contract that my office holds with private entities will be thoroughly re-evaluated. I am committed to bringing integrity and efficiency back into an office that has been stagnant for 24 years.”

Anthony Granata will face Incumbent Andrea Lynn Chasteen in the November election, who took office after narrowly winning the seat in 2016.
