We members at the Will County Board in Illinois will be voting on a Proclamation in support of the will County Sheriff and local police departments. It was proposed by Steve Balich, Mike Fricilone, and Judy Ogala, Republican members of the Board. There seems to be support from the rest of the Board that understands the importance of standing with our law enforcement rather than talking about defunding them. I make fun of the idea of defunding the police saying if you call 911 and no one answers who you going to call, then I loudly say Gostbusters.

This is not a laughing matter and I hope to see every member of the Board voting yes to the Proclamation July 16th at the will County Board.

PROCLAMATION

SUPPORTING LAW ENFORCEMENT OFFICERS IN WILL COUNTY AND WILL COUNTY MUNICIPALITIES

WHEREAS, members of the Will County Sheriff’s Department and Local Will County Police Departments serve and protect citizens, often under extreme stress while enforcing the rule of law for the people, and

WHEREAS, law enforcement officers move toward problems, as others run away, not knowing what situation lies ahead, and

WHEREAS, law enforcement officers must have the support and respect of elected officials and community leaders to continue keeping the peace during these stressful times, and

WHEREAS, over the past few months, their service has come with higher levels of risk such as threats and acts of violence that are aimed directly at police.

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, that the Will County Board and the Will County Executive acknowledge the excellent job the Will County Sheriff’s Department and local Will County Police Departments have done and will continue to do.

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that the Will County Board and the Will County Executive express their support to members of the Will County Sheriff Department and local Will County Police Departments who are maintaining, to the best of their ability, not only the protection of the public, but the rule of law.

DATED THIS 16TH DAY OF JULY, 2020.
