Poll shows Mike Fricilone locked in tight race with Marie Newman in 3rd Congressional District

Cook County Republican Party Chairman Sean M. Morrison commissioned the polling firm Ogden & Fry to conduct a poll on the race for the open 3rd Congressional House Seat featuring Republican Mike Fricilone versus socialist Democrat Marie Newman. The winner will replace outgoing Congressman Dan Lipinski.

The results of the Ogden & Fry poll shows Mike Fricilone within the margin of error with Marie Newman.

46.1% — Marie Newman43.9% — Mike Fricilone10.0% — Undecided
The Ogden & Fry poll spoke with 608 Likely Voters with the margin of error for the poll is +/- 3.63% at the 95% confidence interval. The poll was conducted on September 5, 2020.

“What these poll numbers clearly illustrate is that residents in the 3rd Congressional District support mainstream policies. The same mainstream policies Mike Fricilone has championed as a member of the Will County Board. Not the radical left’s socialist agenda which Marie Newman is in lock-step with,” said GOP Chairman Sean Morrison.
The race couldn’t feature a starker contrast in candidates with Fricilone a strong supporter of law enforcement and Newman a backer of the Defund The Police movement. In addition, Mike Fricilone picked up the endorsement of the Chicago Tribune Newspaper this week (9/29/20).
CHICAGO TRIBUNE NEWSPAPERMarie Newman faces Republican Mike Fricilone of Homer Glen. Newman, heavily favored, is a progressive who supports a switch to government-run health insurance and the so-called Green New Deal environmental agenda. Those are not the ideas we support. Fricilone , who has served on the Will County Board for seven years, is a fiscal and social conservative. He says he’ll continue Lipinski’s common-sense approach by joining the bipartisan Problem Solvers Caucus, a group of moderate House members. Fricilone is Endorsed .
