Sugar Grove, IL – Based on his record of support for business issues and his background in running successful businesses, Jim Oberweis, candidate for Congress in the 14th District, has earned the support of the U.S. Chamber of Commerce.
“On behalf of the world’s largest business federation representing the interests of more than 3 million businesses and organizations of every size, sector, and region, I am pleased to inform you the U.S. Chamber of Commerce has endorsed your candidacy for the U.S. House of Representatives,” said Thomas J. Donahue, Chief Executive Officer for the U.S. Chamber of Commerce in a letter to Jim. “The Chamber aims to protect free enterprise and pro-business priorities in Congress by vigorously supporting policies that advance economic growth, help create jobs, and promote fiscal responsibility. Looking ahead, the U.S. Chamber of Commerce remains invested in supporting critical legislation that will drive economic growth and assist job creators. Your positions on these issues earned you this endorsement.”
Oberweis said having the support of the US Chamber against an incumbent legislator is significant.
“My opponent, Lauren Underwood, had a chance to lock up this endorsement,” Oberweis said. “As a sitting member of Congress, she has had the opportunity to cast votes and to weigh in on issues important to the business community. Instead of helping businesses and helping to grow our economy – she chose to embrace policies that will hurt businesses, hurt working families, and will lead to job loss. I have created thousands of jobs and I too have a record as a member of the Illinois Senate. My record of job creation and support of sound economic policies speaks for itself which is why the nation’s largest business federation is supporting me for Congress and not Lauren Underwood.”
