Do you live in Homer Township?  According to the 2010 census, over thirty-nine thousand of you do…with over thirteen thousand four hundred housing units. If you live between Will-Cook road and Farrell road, and between 135th street and 184th street, you live in Homer Township and you also pay double taxes. If you live in Homer Glen, you pay taxes to the village and the township. If you live east of Farrell in Lockport, you are paying taxes to Lockport and Homer Township.

What does the township do? Do you know? Do you care?
I’m sure you weren’t paying attention when the incredibly corrupt previous township board was stealing your taxpayer money, using the usual schemes like paying a contractor $126,000 to do a $5,000 job, replacing a few windows; where do you think that extra $$$$$ went? If you don’t know what I’m talking about, you weren’t paying attention. Time to start paying attention; it’s time to “fix where you live.”

The last township meeting was held on Monday, March 14th.
The meeting started as usual, but with one exception; at first, I couldn’t put my finger on it. The air smelled a little sweeter; the mood was a little lighter.  It was almost like a blanket of hate was lifted off of the people; taken outside and shaken off, removed of its pee-stained animosity, and then brought back in to gently snuggle the people with warmth and decorum.  That’s right, the “fascist spice girls” were not at the meeting this time to bully the board.  This, in spite of Sheri Lynn (A.G. Spice) trying to get people on the Marxist Village Square to send in questions for the board so that she might act as their chosen scion of virtue, the spokesperson of the oppressed, the Dio of the downtrodden.  But alas, this did not happen. Maybe the people who “pay attention” realize that A.G. Spice is not the best spokesperson for “the people” since, she has already cost the taxpayers twenty thousand dollars by weaponizing the Attorney General reporting system, which is supposed to be used for violations of the Open Meetings Act…impropriety, conflicts of interest, etc. My question is, why wasn’t Sheri Lynn paying attention when the previous board, run by Pam Meyers, was stealing taxpayer money?  Where was A.G Spice then?  No answer is given.

During public comments, Jay expressed concern about the previous meeting’s comments and vote by Angela Adolf on the issue of sending a letter to the District 205 school board. The concern was that since Angela is employed by Lockport Township High School, she should have recused herself, or at least abstained from the vote. Basically, the argument is, if a board member is employed by a company or entity that is up for a vote by the township, to avoid the appearance of a conflict of interest, that member should not be a part of that discussion or vote.  Apparently, Jay was paying attention when Angela Adolf filibustered the last meeting stating that it was an “overreach of government” to send a disapproving letter to her boss from the people of Homer Township about how the children of Lockport Township High School were being treated.  If you remember, the District 205 school board, led by superintendent Robert McBride, demanded masks be worn by the kids at LTHS in violation of a court order, thereby segregating children and banishing them to the auditorium… where many of them couldn’t access classwork or food.

Later during the meeting, Steve Balich, township supervisor, said in relation to this issue that…he talked to the township attorney who said that anyone in a position of influence can not vote on a matter, or lobby the board on the behalf of that member’s professional interest outside of the township. Basically, Angela’s vote and attempted influence of the board at the last meeting was improper and should never have happened.  (A.G. Spice could not be reached for comment on this matter.)

All the world loves a parade, and so does the township as it kicks off its annual summer parade on June 25th along the Parker road route. If you or your organization is interested in being in the parade, email Vicki at vbozen@homertownship.com … applications will be accepted until June 17, 2022.

Update on Trantina farm development: Many exciting things are going on at the Trantina farm with plans to make the farm’s twenty acres a multi-event center. The event center will host fests, weddings, birthday parties, and other events in the near future, with little or no cost to the taxpayer.  (Whaaat?)  With projected parking for 1500 to 2000 cars, the possibilities are many. If you remember, the previous board wanted to raise your taxes for this project. Steve Balich explains the goal of the township when it comes to taxes:  “We do not want to ever raise taxes, period! Our goal is to have no taxes here in the future.”  (are you paying attention yet?)  How does Steve Balich intend to eliminate all taxes paid to the township?  I’m sorry, but units of local government exist only to raise taxes, not lower them, and certainly not to eliminate taxes altogether, right? Tune in next time when you will hear the unbelievable details of how this modern miracle is to be accomplished…

Never mind, I’ll just tell you now.  It’s called grants, deal-making, integrity, and hard work. Every board member is working many hours, going above and beyond the call, to find and cut every excess dollar out of the budget; for example,
The Township has applied for millions of dollars of grants in order to do repairs to the senior housing and the old town hall. (sounds better than $126,000 for a few windows) With the help of Wight Engineering and its representative Regan who is a resident of Homer Glen, the township has a one-stop-shop with the projects from inception to completion. That includes applying for and securing the grants, assessing the scope of work, and overseeing the construction of the projects… Saving money one project at a time… Makes sense right?
Oh, and don’t be fooled by the fools on the Marxist square page; the taxes are not being deferred to the village…duh.

Were you paying attention when the village board saved the taxpayers from a 1.5 million dollar tax hike that Mayor Yukich demanded HAD TO BE DONE! Speaking of the village, Dan Fialko, a village trustee, was at the township meeting to explain how working together with the township board saved the taxpayers up to $1.2 million from a lawsuit with Lockport about a misunderstanding with the road district. This needs to be explained and will be, some other time. Let’s just say that there was so much corruption, and yes “illegalities,” by the mayor and some former village trustees, that I don’t understand how no one is in jail yet…(ooooh cliff hanger!)  -shhh don’t tell anyone-

Here’s the deal, maybe you weren’t paying attention when you voted on that road district referendum; it was confusing, I get it… but, if you want to fix where you live you have to be a partner in your own redemption…  no one is going to do it for you. This is the most transparent township board you have ever been a part of; if you can’t take two hours a month to put your butt in a seat at a meeting, then look up the videos on Rumble at (wcvideos2) and educate yourself on what’s going on. The greatest crimes against humanity were committed when no one was paying attention.
