Does cancer know it’s bad??

I recently had the opportunity to interview a cancer cell migrating from the left breast of a human female body to the right breast. I don’t have time to get into the specifics of how this “fantastic voyage” was made possible, but let me tell you, it was eye opening to say the least.

My first question was obvious, considering I had first hand knowledge of what happened to the left breast. The cancer had multiplied in that particular area to the point where it was uninhabitable for normal cells to thrive, thus causing a tumor that had to be removed, and of course, chemo and radiation followed.

“I see that a lot of cancer cells are moving to the right breast, what made you decide to do the same?” I asked.

“You know, it was a great place to live at one time; the little ones used to walk to the store after dark without fear of being killed,” it said with some sadness; “but now it’s too dangerous for any of us to thrive there.” Perplexed with the absence of self awareness, I replied, “but don’t you realize that it was cancer that caused the left breast to be destroyed?”

“No it wasn’t!” The cell protested loudly. “It was chemo and radiation that destroyed that area! It wasn’t us! You sound like those damn white blood cells, always trying to get in our business!” “I’m very sorry, I didn’t mean to offend you,” I explained calmly. “I’m just trying to understand.” I continued. “Some would say that it was your policies that, in the end, caused an untenable situation which led to, shall we say, unworkable solutions?”

The cancer cell sighed as if to take pity on me and said… “Look, I don’t agree with everything cancer does. Some want to burn shit down, some want to cause violence, but we all want what’s best for the body. If all the other cells would just join us we wouldn’t have to be so forceful, but we are fighting for the fundamental transformation of the body for all, not just the elite red blood cells.” “But you’re telling the other cells lies,” I said.

“Being right is more important than truth,” It replied. “Others would say that you’re cheating; how do you respond to that?” I asked.

“You call it cheating, we call it winning,” It replied.

I got the sense that the cancer cell didn’t realize the direct significance of its own actions; clearly the evidence was overwhelming that everywhere these cancer cells grew in numbers that part of the body died. I tried to make an appeal to reason when I said, “You know if the body dies there will be nowhere else to go. What will you do then?” It looked at me scornfully and said, “This body was never that good to begin with; refined sugars, high cholesterol, saturated fats… If it dies it dies.” There was a certain sense of sadness, anger, nihilism, and an obviously inflated self esteem bordering on hubris, that struck me as slightly intriguing in this cancer cell. After all, who wouldn’t want to be supremely confident in the direction of one’s future. The question is… what does that future look like beyond the vision of the now, which led me to my final question as I finished the interview. “Let’s say you cancer cells get everything you want and there is no more need to fight, what then?” Its answer struck me like a thunderbolt and brought it all into perspective. “When there is no need to fight, there is no need to exist. We will always endeavor to persevere, to make this body better for everyone, to stop the colonial empiralist cisnormative heterodoxy, the so-called normal cells who oppress us. This fight will never end nor should it.” I thanked it for its time.

Cancer is allowed to exist in the body by convincing the brain and the other cells that it is not a threat, and is consequently ignored. Even the white blood cells, who are in charge of order in the body, will gather in mass and do nothing while cancer destroys an entire organ.

Back here in reality the same thing is true, only the definitions have changed. “The Body” is the United States Of America. The organs are the various states and cities. Detroit was once a thriving organ of the body. The boobs of the body, California, now has breast cancer. New York has testicular cancer, and Illinois has prostate cancer. If cancer is allowed to spread to the liver, (Texas), America as we know it is dead.

“How terrible! How can any caring person allow this to happen? Surely they will recognize this has gone too far and change their evil ways,” say the naive.

Cancer doesn’t know it’s bad, so why would it change?

The whole idea of good and bad is the direct result of one’s value system. Values and morals are learned while one is young and will expand or contract depending on outside stimuli, here meaning; anything outside of the family unit including, but not limited to, higher education and/or culture.

Like it or not, the human being is programmed like a computer through this thing we call DNA, to seek meaning beyond that of one’s self. Some scientists call it the “God Gene.” Some people find meaning through religion and learn about objective morality, that is, the idea that there is good and bad no inbetween. The idea that everything is subjective has been taught in colleges since the 1960’s and is related to the idea that nothing matters (Nihilism).

How does one find meaning when nothing matters?

Here’s where it gets tricky… The “God Gene” is so powerful that eventually it will demand that you find something to believe in. No matter how hard you try, you can not escape its grasp. Those who fight it or deny it will fall into a sense of hopelessness so profound that it will manifest itself in terrible ways such as suicide. One cannot live without meaning. So in this context, Rollo Rule number twelve is applicable: Pick a religion or a religion will pick you.

One can also find meaning in fighting evil, real or perceived. Non-religious people find meaning in fighting subjective evil such as; systemic racism, transphobia, anti-voting rights, climate change, etc…, and in doing so, are responsible for the terrible consequences of that fight such as; the destruction of the black family, the destruction of women’s sports, the destruction of the democratic process, and now the destruction of the world economy. This is the religion of the woke; they can not be persuaded to stop fighting because their fight is noble and righteous. Just like the religious cannot be convinced that God does not exist, you will not convince the woke that climate change is a farce.

Cancer does what cancer does. It has no agenda other than to exist. People, however, can change. Sometimes all it takes is to read a book outside of your comfort zone, or to question your peers about something that doesn’t make sense… to do research from different sources of information. Thomas Sowel was an avowed communist, but became a great American intellectual and economist. Clarence Thomas was a black separitest, but became one of the greatest constitutional supreme court justices of our time. C.S. Lewis refused to believe in God and became one of the greatest Christian apologists of his time (and also wrote a book about a talking lion). The point here is that people who were “chosen” by this religion only have the capacity for change if they put some effort into seeking the truth… objective truth. Otherwise, the cancer will grow and we will be like the white blood cells, gathering in mass and watching the body disintegrate.
