Three Blind Mice
M. E. Boyd
9/15/2023

“Three blind mice. Three blind mice.
See how they run. See how they run.
They all ran after the farmer’s wife,
Who cut off their tails with a carving knife.
Did you ever see such a sight in your life
As three blind mice?” British. An original version released in 1609.

For any of you who watched “The Three Stooges” or read nursery rhymes to your children, you know the story of the “Three Blind Mice”. It was once thought that the mice represented two Protestant Bishops and one Archbishop burned at the stake by Bloody Mary in mid-16th century Britain. Miss Constitution, however, thinks they represent:

Journalists blinded by Will – deliberate blindness

Politicians blinded by Choice – malicious blindness

Voters blinded by Malingering – lazy blindness

For whatever reason, the three blind mice are running after Lady Liberty, pretending to be loyal, wanting recognition for being loyal, loving the very presence of the strong representation of our American civilization, but in the end getting exactly what they deserve as knowing and unknowing instruments of the nation’s demise.

Deliberate Blindness

The American governance structure on the national or federal level consists of three co-equal branches with different duties of care to We the People, who are the ultimate sovereign of the United States. This sovereignty of the People is stated clearly in the Preamble to the Constitution:
We the People of the United States. . . do ordain and establish this Constitution for the United States of America.
And in Amendments IX and X to the Constitution:
The enumeration of certain rights. . . shall not be construed to deny or disparage others retained by the [P]eople.

The powers not delegated [to the national government]. . .are reserved to the states. . . or to the
[P]eople.

An example:

The People’s eyes and ears on what those three branches are doing belongs to the Press. Congress shall make no law . . . abridging the freedom of the press. The whole idea of the American free press is to investigate all three national branches, appointed national bureaucrats, and those with decision-making authority in the military and deliver their findings to the American people in the form of trust-worthy reporting. It is through journalism’s eyes and ears that the Sovereign can know who to question and correct. At no time is any arm of the press, including social media, to be a spokesperson for any of the three federal branches or to be deliberately blind to investigatory truths. If asked by either the executive, legislative, or judicial branches to “dig into the lies of our opponents” or “censor ‘misinformation’ that we will provide for you” or “spin the story this way” journalists are required to say – politely – that we are not Constitutionally allowed to do your bidding.

Malicious Blindness

Political parties are not mentioned in the Constitution but formed as the Federalists and the anti-Federalists early on in our nation’s life. George Washington was a Federalist and ran on what he called a central government with “energy.” His fear was that Great Britain would come back to re-conquer America. Nevertheless, George Washington’s first duty was to the People of the United States and to the nation itself. He was not blindly loyal to the Federalist Party over the interests of the nation. That is not true today. Party loyalty, regardless of the consequences to the nation, remains a top priority in many elected and appointed public servants.

An example:

Article IV, section 4 of the US Constitution: The United States. . .shall protect each [state] against Invasion. . .

States, both on the southern and northern border, are crying out to the federal government that an Invasion is taking place that violates federal law. These cries fall on deaf ears. “Our policies are working,” claims the White House Press Secretary. “Our borders are closed,” claims the Secretary of Homeland Security. No journalist asks, “What, then, are your policies if millions of unvetted persons are entering the country illegally and it is your Constitutional responsibility to protect these states from Invasion? Are you blind to your Oath of Office to preserve, protect, and defend the Constitution?”

Lazy Blindness

Some of We the People are simply too lazy to want to learn. Even if journalists were not deliberately blind, and some elected and appointed public servants maliciously blind, many Americans are malingerers – too lazy to learn our history, to know our institutions, and to hold those public servants who violate their Duty of Care to account. Yet these same citizens will be the first to complain when there are no police to call, no firemen to rescue, no job to hold, no house to own, no reverend to see, no food the stronger have not taken, and no decent education for their children.

An example:

In Plyler vs Doe (1982), the Supreme Court ruled that states must provide public education to illegal alien children unless the state could show a compelling interest that would override the Court’s concerns. Education is not a fundamental national right in America, it is a state Constitutional right if the state provides for it in their state Constitution. Later Supreme Courts have ruled that this education includes children with disabilities and its often very expensive care. Lazy blindness to what is going on and its consequences weakens the Sovereign and permits tragic unintended consequences.
